Great All Around Vehicle With Luxury & Function.
Posted on Mar 17, 2008 under Chevrolet |I owned an ‘03 Z71 Tahoe before this and there’s no comparison. I loved the Tahoe but there is really no comparison between the last and current body. The new front suspension makes a huge differance and these large trucks feel more like a car than ever. The dealership lowered mine slightly and put 22″ Momo rims on it. It looks great and surprisingly still rides well. My Tahoe was lowered a little also but no matter what I tried, couldn’t get the ride quality. The only disadvantage to this one is that it has very little ground clearance up front. The older models had much more. I have yet to take it to Tahoe to see how it does in the snow but it’s a little bit of a concern.
Overall, I love the truck. It’s refined but still functional. They took what many would consider an unattractive truck (pre ‘07 Avalanche) and made it one of their more attractive trucks in my oppinion.

We fantasized for a year about this truck and ordered with most all available options. The truck has more than lived up to our expectations. Bought the $2200 navigation system and the GPS disc is sorely out of date. We bought a portable a couple of years ago and it has better maps. Calls and letters to customer service have been fruitless.

Definitely one of the best looking trucks available. It is also extremely useful. You can carry most anything you would want to,especially with the unique mid-gate system. You can tow with it, go off road if you want to , carry 5 people easily, have all the whistles and bells, and have a great looking and safe vehicle with on-star and navigation. What more can you ask for, especially in this price range?

I like a tall truck for the off road, the z71 has 18 inch wheels, there are very few tires for a 18inch rim, finally found one a mickey thompson 33×12.5 but even after installing leveling kit to add 2 inches the tires still rubbed! in most cases if you add a 4-6 inch suspension kit you void your warranty. so after driving around for 2 weeks with tires that rubbed on every bump and hard turn i removed them for the stock tires. but the ride with stock tires is awsome!
Also the changes in the interior (gauges , buttons , radio etc..) are very user friendly and the navigation is a breeze to use. I had a ford expedition and i hated it!! drove like a pig, boaty and sloppy. i had a rattle in the front seat and the dealer said thats how the truck is, had a crunch in the starter when i started it up, brought it in for service for that at least ten times and knowbody could figure it out
